Description
Michael Cera needs to stop playing losers. He's been doing it for a while, and at nearly 22, he's too old to play nerds or nebbishes in their mid-teens. Furthermore, he's starting to look like Harpo Marx, especially with the haircut he's been sporting on recent television programs like David Letterman's stellar talk show. There's nothing wrong with Harpo Marx, but I doubt the studios are about to remake his oeuvre. Cera's latest is about a kid named Nick Twisp, who just wants to get laid. In the hugely popular young adult books by C.D. Payne upon which the movie is based, Twisp is 14 years old. Today's Hollywood is leery of sexual situations involving kids who are that young, so the character has been made older in "Youth in Revolt." But he's still an awkward fellow who falls head over heels in love with a girl (played by Portia Doubleday), who does not live in his native Oakland, Calif.
