Byline: Jeff Wright The Register-Guard Correction (ran April 10, 2008): City/Region: The Eugene City Council voted 7-0 on Feb. 25, with Councilor Bonny Bettman absent, to approve the issuance of up to $85.5 million in revenue bonds to finance a new Eugene Water & Electric Board operations complex. The council earlier rejected a proposal to refer the matter to voters on a 5-3 vote. Also, while EWEB abandoned plans to provide high-speed telecommunications connections to all Eugene homes and businesses, it has in place a fiber-optic system that links the utilitycentss substations and other facilities and provides high-speed connections to about a dozen government offices and schools.
